Lost the files of your own posts? Get them back.

Every platform has an official button that gives you back what you posted. Here is where each one is, what you get, and how long it takes — no app to install, no password to give anyone.

TikTok

1
  1. In the app, tap Profile, then the Menu ☰ button.
  2. Settings and privacy → Account → Download your data.
  3. Choose what to include and the file format, then Request data.
  4. When TikTok says it's ready, open Download data and tap Download.
What you get
A copy of your data: TikTok names the username, watch history, comments and settings, “not limited to” those.
How long
A few days to prepare; the file stays 4 days.

Instagram

2
  1. Settings → Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions.
  2. Export your information → Create export, then pick the profile.
  3. Export to device; choose the information, dates, format and media quality.
  4. Start export, then save it from Available downloads.
What you get
Your information with your photos and videos, at the media quality you pick (higher quality = bigger files).
How long
Up to 30 days for the email; the export stays 4 days.

YouTube

3
  1. One video: YouTube Studio → Content.
  2. Open the video's menu and choose Download.
  3. Every video at once: Google Takeout, with YouTube selected.
What you get
An MP4 in 720p or 360p from Studio — not your original file. Videos with a strike or a pre-approved audio track can't be downloaded.
How long
Studio: right away, five times a video a day. Takeout: Google emails a link.

X

4
  1. Profile icon → Settings and privacy → Account.
  2. Your X data: verify with the code sent to your email or phone.
  3. Under Download your data, Request data.
  4. Open the email while signed in and download the .zip.
What you get
Your posts, messages and the media you attached — images, videos and GIFs — in HTML and JSON.
How long
A few days to prepare.

How it works

Short and checkable: every limit links to the platform's own page, read on 28 Oct 2026.

  1. Your own posts only

These exports give back what you posted, from your own signed-in account. Downloading other people's videos is another matter: YouTube's terms forbid it except where YouTube itself allows it 5, so we don't build that tool.

  2. Keep the originals next time

A platform's copy is re-encoded: YouTube Studio gives 720p at best. Keep the file you exported from your editor, named by date and account.

  3. Checked by hand

Each path above was read on the platform's help page on the date below. Menus move; if one doesn't match, the linked page is the reference.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't download anything for you: the platforms only give your data to you, signed in.
  • TikTok's help page doesn't list your videos among what the file holds; check the file it sends.
  • Instagram's emails can take up to 30 days, by its own page.

Questions

How do I download all my TikTok videos?

In the TikTok app: Profile, Menu ☰, Settings and privacy, Account, Download your data. Choose what to include and the format, then Request data. TikTok says the file can take a few days and stays available for 4 days.

How do I download my own YouTube videos?

In YouTube Studio, Content, the video's menu, Download: an MP4 in 720p or 360p, five times a day at most. For all your videos at once, YouTube points to Google Takeout.

Can I download someone else's TikTok or YouTube video?

Not through us. YouTube's terms forbid downloading content except where the service itself allows it, and TikTok's forbid extracting it with automated tools. Ask the creator for the file, or use the platform's own save button where they allow it.
