Subtitles that stay on TikTok and Reels.

TikTok and Instagram take no subtitle file, so the words have to be in the picture. Drop the video and its SRT or VTT; the text is drawn into every frame, clear of the buttons.

How it works

Short and checkable: every limit links to the platform's own page, read on 28 Oct 2026.

  1. Placed clear of the buttons

On an upright video, “Safe zone” centres the text at 60 % of the height and keeps 12 % free on each side — over the band TikTok's template and Meta's Reels guide leave for their caption, username and buttons.

  2. What you see is what you save

The preview draws the text with the same code that draws it into each frame of the new file: same font, same size, same place.

  3. Made by your browser

Mediabunny reads the video, WebCodecs decodes each frame, the subtitle is drawn on it, and the frame is encoded again as H.264 with the original sound.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't style word by word or animate the text: one calm block per subtitle.
  • Burnt-in text can't be turned off or translated by the platform. Keep the SRT for YouTube, which takes subtitle files.
  • Nothing is uploaded; a long 4K video can take a few minutes.

Questions

How do I add subtitles to a TikTok or a Reel permanently?

TikTok and Instagram have no field to upload a subtitle file with a video, so the text has to be part of the picture. Drop the video and its SRT or VTT here; the subtitles are drawn into every frame and saved as a new MP4.

Where should subtitles go on a vertical video?

Above the band the apps cover with their caption and buttons: TikTok's template leaves the bottom 660 px of 1920 under its interface, Meta asks to keep the bottom 35 % of a Reel clear. “Safe zone” centres the text at 60 % of the height, inside the side margins.

I don't have an SRT file. What now?

Make one from the speech with the free auto-subtitles tool: it recognises the words in your browser and ends on this same step.
